Part of the Creative Tomintoul activities for Tomintoul 250 we are officially launching our poetry competition!
We’re calling all budding writers, experienced writers, would like to give it a go writers, wherever you’re at in your creative writing journey we would love for you to take part.
There are 3 age categories, 5-11, 11-18 and 18+ and the deadline to submit is 19th June 2026. Poems submitted must be a maximum of 15 lines.
Poetry has no boundaries, allow your imagination to run wild. We live in a village full of history, and surrounded by natural beauty that can’t help but make you think. This is a chance for all in the area to explore your own experience of Tomintoul, what it means to you and put it on paper.
The winning poems in each category will be etched in whisky barrels and placed around the village (final locations TBC), so your words will become part of the legacy of the 250 celebrations.
